Würde man sich getrauen ein kritisches Wort gegen Eclipse zu erheben, hätte man eine Horde aufgebrachter weiblicher Fans gegen sich, welche sich schützen vor die Truppe um Sänger Eric Martensson stellen würden. Trotzdem ist in meinen Augen «Megalomanium II» nicht mehr geworden als ein gutes Eclipse Album, das die Fans begeistern wird, aber keine wirklich Steigerung mit sich bringt.
Wenn ich als Vergleich die kürzlich veröffentlichten neuen Alben von Flotsam & Jetsam, oder Victory ins Rennen schicke, ist auf diesen Brechern einfach eine sich stetig steigernde Qualität zu hören. Genug nun aber des mosern auf hohen Level. Denn die neuen Tracks sind mitsingbar, lassen das Tanzbein schwingen und gehen weniger melancholisch ins Rennen, als auch schon. Die Schlagzeugarbeit ist einmal mehr mit viel Grinsen und Dynamik eingespielt worden und zeigt Philip Crusner von seiner besten Seite.
Lieder wie «Still My Hero», «Until The War Is Over» (hier kommen wieder die irischen Elemente zum Tragen), «Divide & Conquer» und «One In A Million» bringen ans Tageslicht, dass Eric nichts von seinem songschreiberischen Talent eingebüsst hat. Somit ist und bleibt der neuste Streich aus dem Hause Eclipse eine dufte Scheibe, die man sich als Fan ohne reingehört zu haben ins Regal stellen kann. Denn die Truppe hat sich zu einem Markenzeichen entwickelt, bei dem man analog zu einem Axel Rudi Pell weiss, was man bekommt.
